| TRK102 | Introduction to Diesel Technology: This course provides the student with basic shop and tool safety instruction, an overview to hand and power tools used in the medium/heavy duty truck technology profession. Also, fastener overview, mathematics and measurement instruction and an overview of the diesel engine and other systems. | |
| TRK103 | Preventive Maintenance Inspection: The Preventive Maintenance Inspection area is an entry-level technician inspection task designed to introduce the student to correct procedures and practices of vehicle inspection in a teaching-learning environment. | |
| TRK104 | Diesel Engines: This course provides instruction and work-based applications in the diagnosis and repair of diesel engines, cylinder heads and valve trains, engine blocks, lubrication and cooling systems, air induction and exhaust systems, fuel systems and starting systems. | |
| TRK105 | Brakes: This course provides instruction and work-based application in the diagnosis and repair of brake systems including air supply service, mechanical and hydraulic systems, and parking brakes. | |
| TRK106 | Electrical-Electronic Systems: This course provides instruction and work-based application in the diagnosis and repair of electrical systems including batteries, starting, charging, and lighting systems. Diagnosis and repair of gauges and warning lights is also included. | |
| TRK107 | Suspension and Steering: The Steering and Suspension area are entry-level technician inspection tasks designed to identify the components of a medium/heavy truck's steering system and the different types of suspension systems used on today's heavy/duty trucks. Students will be able to inspect front axle components for wear and perform troubleshooting techniques to isolate and locate defective suspension system components. | |
| TRK108 | Live Projects: This course is designed to give the students an opportunity to receive live project training in one or more of the five specialty areas of instruction. The Medium and Heavy Truck Mechanic program does a variety of work, bumper-to-bumper, on advisory committee truck and trailer applications.
