Description:
This course is designed to provide students who want to earn a living as an office employee with the occupational skills and knowledge essential to initial employment. Students will become skilled on the various business machines offices are currently using, such as computers, transcription machines, electronic calculators, fax machines, copiers, digital cameras, digital video cameras, etc. This course is open to high school juniors and seniors, as well as adults.

| FAS101 | Office Procedures: This course is designed to help students develop skills that will be important to their career in a professional or business position. The content studied will help prepare students to enter the workforce now and to face the inevitable changes they will encounter in the future. | |
| FAS102 | Business Fundamentals: Students will learn the skills necessary to compete in today's global economy. This self-paced course will teach students about the U.S. economy and how businesses are affected by the economy, management of an office and a business, as well as information needed by consumers. | |
| FAS103 | Business Communications: Success in a student's chosen career requires the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form. Students will learn the skills needed to be an effective communicator in the world of work. | |
| FAS104 | Advanced Computer Fundamentals: Using project-based assessments, students in the advanced computer course will demonstrate their knowledge of computers, operating systems, file maintenance and directory structures. Students will work on and troubleshoot classroom computers as well as work on projects associated with computer fundamentals. | |
| FAS105 | Office Management: Students will work on the four key expectations employers have of their employees and these are reliability, productivity, cooperativeness, and independence in thinking/learning. Tying these concepts together to manage an office is a key component of an effective manager/employee relationship. | |
| FAS106 | Human Resource Concepts: This course is designed to develop students with the supervisory and managerial skills needed to manage employees. Students will learn to be flexible and demonstrate achieving success while developing good work habits and expectations. | |
| FAS107 | Advanced Computer Applications: Using the MS Office suite, students will demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills required to operate Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher to complete required office tasks. | |
