Training to Increase
Skill Levels?
Individuals and organizations have choices of independent
or group study, computer-based or instructor-led study, computer-based or
hard-copy format, or combinations of these choices. There is also a
suggested sequence of study. Presently two training material publishers,
KeyTrain and W-WIN, are recognized by ACT as Level One material providers.
-
KeyTrain
Students enrolled in Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology
Education programs are eligible for a KeyTrain internet subscription at
no further expense through their
local Technology Center.
-
W-WIN
Workbooks are approximately $10 each for one skill level and a CD-ROM
for self-study of Applied Mathematics, Reading For Information, and
Writing is $50. An audio tape for all levels of Listening is
approximately $20 and a VHS of Observation levels 3-6 is approximately
$50. Other media such as Internet and network-based media offered by
WIN is available as packages for organizations such as schools,
agencies, and companies.
Suggested Study Sequence
Reading For Information supports the Writing skill, and these two
support the remaining skills. Business Writing is an advanced skill,
however has only reading and writing as suggested prerequisites.
Performance,
Talent, and Fit are supported by the Teamwork skill; in turn supported
by the Observation and Listening skills. The L-O-TW-PTF and AM-LI-AT
tracks are supported by the Reading for Information and Writing skills.
